Meet the Farmers

Chris & Naomi Juten

Chris and Naomi along with their five children are heavily involved on the farm. They are often found at the hops field— the kids either playing or helping where they can. Chris grew up on the farm, doing pig chores, and working on the current cattle operation. Naomi, a nurse who is currently at home full time and homeschooling, jumped right into farm life when she and Chris were married. She supports DFC in a number of ways, namely, customer sales and distribution.

Nick and Ali Juten_Duluth Farming Company

Nick & Ali Juten

Nick and Ali Juten live on the farm with their two children. While Nick grew up as a farmer, Ali has always been drawn to the lifestyle. Nick works as an electrician full time and is the go-to guy for all the things that need fixing, especially anything electrical on the farm. He also tends to be the designated wrapper during hay season. Ali has her own business in communications and marketing and is running all the marketing/social media for DFC. Plus, she is now a self-proclaimed, “crazy chicken lady” with her own flock. Beyond the farm, Nick and Ali both love the outdoors, hunting, and fishing with their kids.

Don & Barb Juten

Don, or Grandpa Juten, is nearly 89 years old now and still works on the farm every single day. It’s a lifestyle that he loves and he doesn’t have plans to stop any time soon. You can find him on his tractor, skid steer, Polaris Ranger, feeding or moving cows. He always has a smile, and will always take the time to say hello, especially to his great-grandchildren. And…he couldn’t do any of this without his wife of 64 years, Barb. You can often find her in her kitchen baking her famous coffee cake or rolls, tending to her gardens, making meals, or spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grands.

Jay & Debbie Juten

Jay learned to love farming by being immersed in it from a young age. He and grandpa Juten have been working in tandem his entire life so far. Jay manages daily operations with the cattle and he takes care of them with a humble and quiet nature that they respond well to. In the past, he enjoyed raising pigs as well, and hopes to eventually get back to that. Jay is also a member of the Farm Service Agency committee and serves on the Forage and Grassland Council board. He has done a lot of research on the farm to perfect techniques for no-till seeding for NE MN. His wife Debbie was once a home education teacher and supports the farm in many ways - secretary, mending clothing, providing meals during hay season, watching children, and pitching in wherever she is needed.
